I’ve been kind of lazy with cooking lately. Mostly I just eat a hot dog or a box of cookies or something.
The other day, I made some soup from a can, because it was super easy. But it didn’t look like it had enough vegetables in it. I happened to have some frozen peas, so I put them in. It was delicious! I’m brilliant! It’s like I’m a master chef or something.
I feel a t.v. show coming on: “Food Hacks with Brad” It’s sure to be a sensation!
I often add frozen peas and carrots to chicken noodle soup. If you really want to get fancy add some thinly sliced celery tops also. It tastes almost homemade. I love soup.
I’ll have to try other vegetables, Debbie. It surprised me how much it changed the flavor.
If you are in a hurry, cook the veggies a little bit in the microwave first. Have fun making all kinds of delicious combinations.
I see barley in that soup. I LOVE beef barley…well, anything with barley in it probably. Yes, you are a soup chef genius!
[Thurman’s soup hacks include this winner: start with Progresso corn chowder…add some half & half to make it creamier, additional diced Perdue chicken cuts, and more corn (can there ever BE too much corn?). There might be more details I have forgotten, but this is honestly as close to homemade as one can get. Yummy.]
