Changing Color

I did some painting in my kitchen. I had picked out a brown that had some grey in it. I liked it, because it was less of a warm color… and it went with the tiles I had picked out.

But when I put the paint on the wall, it suddenly looked a LOT redder. It was more of a chocolate brown… a reddish brown… the tile guy came by and saw it and said a purple brown. AAAHH! The same thing happened to the grey I picked for my living room. I thought it was a pure black-and-white grey, but it looks blue, and sometimes lavender. Now it’s happening with my kitchen color? What’s going on?

With the flash on, it looks more like what I chose.
With the flash off, more color is showing, but it still doesn’t capture the reddish, purplish brown.

Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with the lighting? Long ago I remember reading about how light can be different in a north-facing room vs. the other directions. I have no idea what that means, but (leaving to google….) apparently it’s a thing. https://cellularwindowshades.com/blog/color-changing-walls/
