A student brought some treats for the secretary at school today, and there was a flower on the box. It was a puakenikeni flower. I love how they smell! The fragrance lasts all day. It was on my desk. I kept sniffing it and sniffing it. Partway through the day, I realized what it reminded me of – hyacinths. Mmm…
When I got home, there was a package in the mail. It was a birthday package from my Tennessee sister Debbie and her husband Mark. It had a paper flower. Debbie made it. It was beautiful!
In the evening, we had one more beautiful sight: the sunset from the deck of Lava Rock restaurant. Good food, great sunset!
That’s right – your natal anniversary s coming up fast. Sounds like you’re celebrating already, so continue to enjoy the presents, food, fun, and people. Congratulations on another successful solar orbit!
“puakenikeni” – I can’t get over the words. I tried to say it three times and still struggle. Yay for the fragrance, though! Debbie’s flower is also beautiful! Let’s call it a paperdebbiedebbie, ok?
