I didn’t post about it, but we had an in-service at school on Friday where we talked about AI.
I know AI can do a lot of stuff for you, and the teacher tools we looked at were truly amazing, but I just don’t have much motivation to use them right now. Maybe it’s that I don’t trust this new technology. Maybe it’s just that I don’t have the energy to learn something new. But it sure does make me feel old.
Maybe when I have some vacation time and get caught up with everything I can take more time to look into it…
AI scares the pants off me, frankly, so the fact that you cannot get motivated, as you put it, to learn ways to use it in the classroom actually seems pretty smart to me. “Just because we can doesn’t mean we should” has always been one of my mantras and has served me well over time. Just saying…
I’m with Carol on this one. Sure, it can do cool things and can be appreciated by people who learned some basic life/educational skills, but I think it is detrimental to current learners.
