Insect Intruder

I went to water the houseplants in my bedroom, and noticed that the cabinet they’re sitting on was dirty. Dang it. I just cleaned that off where did all that detritus come from?

I investigated a little further, and noticed that the leaves of my pilea peperomioides had bites taken out of it. All that stuff on the cabinet was poop. Yuck! And what the heck was eating my houseplant?

I searched all over and found it:

There was a worm eating my plant. That’s so weird! How did it get into my house? After thinking about it, I figured it out – I took all my plants outside when my house was tented for termites. Something must’ve laid eggs on my plant while it was out there.

I took the worm outside and left it in my yard – better treatment than it deserved, for the damage it did.

Arrghh! At least you found him, and at least he’s gone now. I’m sure you are on the lookout for his siblings, too.

I had that happen to one of my Christmas cacti. I thought maybe a moth had played eggs on one of the leaves. I also took the little guy outside. It took me a few days to find all of them.

Wait. What?!? All that brown that looks like dirt is worm poop?
I’m glad you didn’t get the shovel wormy.
