Mudroom Managed

I finished painting my mudroom. It was still the color that the previous owner had painted it – a kind of mustard brown. I hadn’t painted it when I painted the kitchen because I needed to have some plumbing done, which would mean breaking into the wall there. That finally happened last February, so the walls were ready for paint. And a short six months later, I’ve done it!

BEFORES and AFTERS:

The part of the wall that was white held the paint differently than the painted parts. It left a subtle texture that I will call “paint brush”. I’m sure there are lots of people out there who would pay big bucks for a hand-crafted artisanal touch such as this:

I had said yesterday that I was thinking about moving my washer and dryer. I did it. Here is the view from the kitchen:

I’m not used to it yet, so it bothers me a little. I’ll live with it for a while and see what I think. I did have to switch the direction in which the dryer door opened. That was challenging. Fortunately, the previous owner had left the owners manual. I still made a few mistakes along the way, but finally got it:
