My recommendation of a phalaenopsis orchid was not just out of the blue. I have one in my bathroom window. It’s awesome. I repotted it last year, and it’s grown twice as big since then. Lately, it’s been putting out a lot of roots. They are grey and kind of weird looking, which is also awesome. Then recently, two roots started pointing straight up. They almost looked like spider legs or something. Just yesterday I realized what they were: bloom spikes! I’ll have flowers in time for New Year’s! The plant will be in bloom until June or July.
Lauren has recently started to send out bloom spikes as well. I was worried when I first noticed them. It’s nice to know what they are and that they will add to the festive holiday atmosphere.
Those could actually be spider legs. Has she been bitten by any radioactive spiders lately?
Are they supposed to be this itchy?
