Travel Treats

This morning I left for the 8th Grade trip to DC and New York. We met at the airport at 4:15am. Yikes! But that’s MUCH better than the alternative – a redeye flight on Friday, ending with a busy first day on Saturday. No, thanks! I don’t want to start the trip tired like that.

Unfortunately, I’m starting the trip tired anyway. It has been a busy last couple of weeks. Whew! I think I’m looking forward to these packed-to-the-minute days that start early and end late, so that I can relax a little.

From having gone on a similar trip last year, I’ve found that one of my struggles is hunger – I get hungry at odd times during the day. I’m prepared this year. I got a bunch of snacks!

My picture won’t load, but it shows: peanut M&M’s, Sweet&Salty almond granola bars, trail mix, and cashews. I guess I like nuts.

Prayers would be appreciated. There are a LOT of moving parts to this trip, and middle schoolers are sometimes unpredictable.

Oh. my. goodness. You are SOOO busy! I pray that it all goes smoothly and that you do not go hungry. (Crankiness accompanies hunger.)

Safe travels and keep us posted!

“Middle Schoolers are sometimes unpredictable.” You make me laugh, dear friend. “Only SOMEtimes??”

Prayers for a fun and safe visit. without any “hangry” episodes for you.

Low Litter

I have forgotten to get new cat litter before, but I’ve never let it get this bad. Poor Bruno. By the time I was re-filling his litter box last night, it was down to less than an inch. Yikes!

But that gave me the opportunity to do a complete litter change. All the old went into the trash, and he got brand-spanking-new litter. Yay!

He used it immediately.

Hmmm… I can’t seem to upload a picture. Maybe that’s good. It was a picture of Bruno in the litter box. I’ll try later and see if it works…

An Abundance of Avocado

When I got home from church last night, I wanted a snack. I had a several avocados ripening on the counter top, so I cut up TWO! Wow! Eating two avocados at one time? It was like I was a rich person or something!

They were perfectly ripe. Mmm…

Misunderstood Message

Yesterday after school I got an email from a coworker that made me laugh. My email settings tell the computer to display the first bit of the email messages, and her message said this:

“Thank you! Get out.” Is what I thought I saw. Like she was saying I should go home. Ha! I was done for the day anyway, so I was getting ready to “get out”

When I opened the email, I saw that all she has written was “Thank you!” and her email concluded with some advertisement words that said to “Get Outlook” email service. Heh.

…ok, so maybe that’s not hilarious, but still, it made me chuckle. I guess sometimes it’s the small things.

Construction Compass

We’ve been doing Constructions in 8th grade math. I rather enjoy them. But demonstrating things on the board is hard. I didn’t have a giant compass, so I made one out of a couple of bamboo pieces and masking tape. It wasn’t very good, because it wouldn’t stay open the same amount, and my constructions were compromised.

But then I looked online, and saw that there are actual compasses made for white boards. I got one! It works famously!
