Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

The Slow Method

When I had my day off on Tuesday, I decided I should do my laundry in the morning before going to school. I only got it half done. I got my colors washed and dried, but didn’t have time to dry the whites. I left them in the washer and was going to dry them when I got home. I forgot.

The next morning, when I went into the closet to get a white shirt, I remembered that the whites were still in the washer. Dang it! I would have to dry them in the evening. I forgot.

The morning after that, I remembered again. Dang it! I REALLY would have to remember this time.

I forgot.

Last night I finally remembered. I decided to wash them again. In hot water. With lots of soap. I started the washer shortly before 8pm. And forgot about the clothes.

I’ll dry them today, but I’ll have to wait until after church choir practice. I hope I don’t forget.

Dang it!

The technique you are using, Brad, is known as pre-soaking.

    Or, in your case, pre-pre-pre-pre-presoaking.

I wager once you finally get dry clothing again, it will look all snowy white and practically brand new! Unless you have already put a chlorine-based bleach in this water, in which case the fabrics may all be eaten up with tiny holes by now. In the latter event, I find K-Mart’s underwear prices quite competitive, FYI.

Do let us know how this all goes, will you?

What the …? Is that a black sock towards the back?

    • Carol

…and a possible pair of nylons near the front – gasp?!

      • Kim

Hey Carol, I “won” your Liberty cross-stitch last night at the silent auction. That was nice of you to donate to the Servant Event Team.

        • Carol

How cool is this! It was honestly a toss up between donating it last night or holding it until this spring and sneaking it into J-5 on Somebody’s birthday, so woo-hoo! Everybody won.

Let’s see … 8 PM last night … what were WE doing?
B-I-N-G- DANG IT! We had about 20 rounds of that. Not much luck at our table. I’ll let Peggy and Kim share more of the gory details.

    • Kim

Well, we didn’t win much, but we did develope an new method of dabbing. And I am sure we won for the loudest table.

      • Peggy

Rosie brought some gals from our book club (who smuggled in some wine) & well yes, we were a little louder than the others…at least now you can understand why our book club has been thrown out of tea rooms in the Balto. Metropolitan Area. And one in PA.

Ah, the smell of mildew in the air – it’s so lovely this time of year.

I don’t care about the holes – I would have bleached that batch like I was makin’ chicken.

    • Deanne

      Making chicken… ? Bleach… ?

      Do tell…

      • Lauren

I have some serious issues with raw chicken. *jibblie*

    • Kim

Lauren, do you make your chicken lutefisk-style?

At least you didn’t turn the load pink again!

Thanks for the reminder – I washed a load of towels yesterday and need to get the in the dryer.

  6. Kim

Brad, I have used this technique before, don’t worry it all comes out in the wash.

  7. Peggy

Brad, that looks like a pretty full load there…how did you come up with enough dry clothes to wear this past week to school? I mean you were fully dressed, right?
