A Bit of Gardening

My back was good enough to do some garden work yesterday morning. I weeded the cutting garden. …well, actually, I just cleaned it up a little. The wet spring has caused all kinds of lush growth. I’ve never seen so many tree seedlings. And the space is filled with grass. There was so much to pull out, I just took care of the visible stuff. I couldn’t believe how many mosquitoes were flying around me while I weeded. Fortunately, I could drench myself in bug spray. Unfortunately, I got some in my mouth. Fortunately, it didn’t kill me.

It's kind of hard to see the pile of grass, but it was pretty big.

Speaking of gardens, Harold and Beth’s back door neighbor has an awesome garden. She has a giant lily patch in her yard. And they are all blooming right now. It’s a riot of color. I really admire what she’s done because lily flowers don’t last very long. This woman likes lilies so much that her garden is plain green all year long and stunningly beautiful for two weeks. Her commitment is inspiring.

Daylilies, Oriental Lilies, and Asiatic Lilies.

Cheryl’s lilies are astounding. The picture can’t do them justice.

I second the beauty of the lilies – it looks like the most beautiful circus of color!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for weeding our garden. You are the best!!! My weed shame knows no bounds. Is your back alright today?

I didn’t weed your garden. I weeded my garden. 🙂

My back is fit as a fiddle. I almost went jogging, but I want to make a quick trip to Lincoln this morning.

I’m impressed with how quickly you can get through a horrific spasm like that. Jogging?!?

Wait a minute – there is no such thing as ‘a quick trip to Lincoln’ and you know it.

Haha! I wrote the first sentence for the next post before I read this comment.

But what’s that big shovel for? Is there something you forgot to mention?

Glad your back is all better!!
