Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Late to Bed

It’s crunch time at school. The grading period is winding down, and everyone is interested in their grades – even students who have shown no interest all year. That means keeping up with my grading and keeping the online grade book up-to-date. Unfortunately, I didn’t get through all my grading this past weekend. So I stayed after school yesterday.

Normally I can’t get very much work done on weeknights because I have evening commitments. Last night would have been handbell practice, but we’re done for the year: I had all night to stay and grade and plan. But the other problem is staying on task. It’s not a problem with my energy, though that can sometimes be low after school. It’s a problem with focus. I get easily distracted while trying to work in the afternoon or evening.

I decided to try caffeinated coffee to help. It worked famously. I was done by seven. But then I had trouble at bedtime. I think I finally got to sleep around midnight. Yikes. I’ll have to be careful not to sit down at school today – I’ll be much more likely to fall asleep.

I did grading AND planning! Yay me!

I think midnight is the normal bedtime for vampires.

LOVE the powerpoint Review screen! I want to review the Book of Acts now!

I don’t think they let people our age stay up until midnight anymore. Let’s see – you get up at four-something? You are going to be one hurtin’ unit today.

Lauren, when I needed soemthing stored in his room, I went there during our mutual lunch break today and indeed caught him in (his words) a full blown pass out. Unconscious at his desk. Out like a light. Bing. Gone. Bye-bye, Brad. So you were right. Left right after school, too. Smart Brad. No coffee any more tonight, right?

I was going to say something about seeing if other drugs would also help you stay focused, but I decided not to say that, and am left with nothing to say.

That’s a lot of words for nothing.

        I’ve taken education classes.

HA! And even having attended one of those other Concordias, I think I know whereof you speak. (And they wonder out here where all my verbosity comes from!)
