Peanut Butter Burger and Apple Pie Gum

Beth, Lauren, and I went to Lincoln yesterday. Beth had a few errands, Lauren had no agenda, and I had to visit garden centers. I haven’t done a single thing for Sommerer Gardens yet. While we were in town, Beth’s friend Jill met us for lunch. We decided to go to the Two Twins Cafe. I knew about it from Lloyd and Lauren’s post, and was anxious to try it myself.

At first I was going to order a grilled cheese, but when Jill looked at the menu, she noticed a peanut butter burger. It was a burger with peanut butter on it! Ha! I had to try it. It had peanut butter, caramelized onions, and dill pickles – sounds weird, right?
It… was… DELICIOUS!

The peanut butter was spicy.

After the cafe, we continued on our errands, which included a stop at Target. While we were going through the checkout, I noticed a new kind of Extra Dessert Delights gum: Apple Pie. It sounded disgusting, but again, I had to try it. It tasted cinnamony and appley…. It didn’t make me sick, but I didn’t like it very much… Beth said her kids would like it, so I gave it to her.

I just didn't care for it.

That kind of gum always reminds me of Willy Wonka – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuD_9CSyXYg . *jibblie* You’re lucky you didn’t blow up like a balloon!

That burger is a crazy, mixed-up mess, but now I wish I would have tried it. 🙂

Spicy peanut butter?!? Like what kind of spice?

Do you think if I smeared regular peanut butter on a burger, I would get the same effect? I could try this tonight.

I think you should go back there for breakfast & try their homemade english muffin!

You got peaunt butter on my burger…no you got your burger in my peanut butter!

It was hot-spicy… kind of like a Thai peanut sauce. It was definitely not the same as Jiffy. They made it themselves.

Thanks again for letting me join you guys!! Grown ups are fun.

I don’t know if Beth told you, but Diet Coke does not taste good after apple pie gum. Yech.

And I thought Thurman was living dangerously when he enjoyed the Italian-spiced shredded cheeses (with oregano, etc.) in his scrambled eggs. I think we will nickname you “Danger Mouth” for your daredevil approach to controversial food products. [Could you make a super hero out of that? What would the costume look like – an apron would probably be involved…]

I’ve been there a few times, and everything I’ve had has been tasty. Also, the two twins are every bit of awesome.
