Plants and Some Food

Happy Valentines Day! And Happy Birthday to my nephew Daniel! And Happy Birthday to Samith! Yay!

My hibiscus bloomed yesterday! It’s so pretty!

After watering my plants on the lanai, my mom and I went for breakfast, then an upcountry drive. We went as far as the Sun Yat-sen park. There was a blooming cherry tree there. I was surprised. I didn’t know cherry trees could grow here!

On the way back home, we stopped at an estate sale, where I forgot to take a picture. Too bad, because it was a cool house.

We also stopped at a garden center, where I got a plant. I don’t know what it’s called, but it has a beautiful yellow flower. It wasn’t open when I bought it. It opened later, but I didn’t get a picture.

In the afternoon, we went to school to grade papers. When we finished, we went out to the school courtyard, because there was church picnic happening. It was a small gathering, but it was fun to chit-chat.

Even more fun was the food they served. It was the quintessential Hawaiian food – teriyaki beef, katsu chicken, and a spam musubi. There was even a weird hotdog garnish. Ha! It was fun to have my mom be able to taste all those things.

I had to look up two of those foods. So fascinating! You guys really had a full day!

Do you think the garden center could rent out a corner to you? You could set up a desk and do your grading in your favorite setting. 🙂
