Centipede Story

When I was at school on Sunday, I saw a big ol’ centipede while looking over the railing. I went down to get a closer look, but I was too scared to really do anything. You’re supposed to kill centipedes by cutting them with scissors or something, but scissors just seemed to short. Yikes!

Yesterday, I looked over the railing again, and the centipede was still there – in the exact same position. Was it dead? I went back down to the lower playground area and found a stick and poked it. It didn’t move. It was dead. I messaged my co-workers to ask them if they wanted it for science class or something. No takers. So I got it myself. I put it on a plate and then sealed the plate inside a zip bag.

This is a standard dessert plate. A student held it while I took a picture. The centipede is five inches long.

I looked at it for a while during recess. I’m scared of these critters, because I’m told they have a mean bite. I thought maybe looking at it would be good “exposure therapy”. It might have helped a little…

One of those (almost that big) crawled up my shin a few years ago when I visited HI. I shook it off before it could bite me.
I’ll never be the same. . . . Double *jibblie*.
