Rareties and Oddities

I have been wanting a velvet leaf philodendron (philodendron micans) for a while. I’ve watched the local garden centers, but seen none. There was one at the swap meet, but it was really expensive. The aquarium store I go to has one, but it’s only a decoration – not for sale.

A couple of days ago, I had gone onto FaceBook marketplace for the first time. I was just there to check out the free section, but they had a garden section. I clicked on it. Someone was selling a micans! Woo hoo!

I went yesterday after school. She had a bunch of plants for sale. I got a “black cardinal” philodendron as an impulse buy.

While I was placing them on my lanai, I noticed my starfish flower plant had a weird growth on it. It looks like some sort of mutation to a flower or a pair of flowers. It freaks me out a little, to be honest.

That plant is going to kill you. Burn it. Burn it with fire. NOW.
