Decreasing Digits

My doctor thought I should do one last cholesterol test before I leave. I got my results yesterday. And they’re good! Woo hoo!

Last September, my LDL was 208. Now it’s 105. Amazing!

I do have some help from medicine now, but I don’t think there’s much to be done about that. Genetics is genetics. And if taking a little pill each day is all I have to do to reduce my chance of a heart attack or stroke, you’d better believe I’m going to take it.

Rock on there, old friend! Here is another way you can tell we’re all getting older: blood reports excite us. [I know how I felt when my A1C was lower a few weeks ago than two months ago. Party time!]

I also know it takes mental adjustment to living with meds for the rest of one’s earthly life. For years as I would sit down to dinner I groused about the number of pill bottles (okay, some are supplements) I take every day now. Finally convinced myself to be grateful to God to live in a country and at a time when health can be managed chemically in ways it would not generations ago. Have to wonder how much longer my Dad or Mom might have lived if they’d been born a few decades later? (But, then, were would I be, so…) So…blessings!!
