Painted Pumpkin

The balcony outside my classroom has an expansive view. On clear days, I can see the ocean, downtown LA, and the mountains beyond.

Part of the view is also oil refineries. They have big storage tanks, and one of my co-workers pointed out that one of the tanks is painted like a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. A jack-o-lantern! How fun!

It’s harder to see in the picture than in real life. It’s the orange dome to the left of middle.

Ha! So seasonal! I hope at Christmas they paint that smokestack green with ornaments. 😀

And I thought Bawlmer was the only place that painted large storage tanks! (You’d seen the ones when reentering from the south via I-95, right? One has a jockey on a race horse…another has a steamed crab…) Very nice, LA! That would make the view of oil tanks and smoke stacks less undesirable overall, I should think.
