A Long and Crazy Day

Yesterday my plan was to work on the Christmas Eve service for my church, be done by 11 or 12, then leave and maybe do some shopping, then pack for my trip to Nebraska today.

The work took longer than I thought, but I got it done. I also put something together for our Advent service last night.

Since it was so late when I finished, I ended up just staying through for the youth group Christmas party. They did a swapping gift exchange game that I’ve never seen: It used a large die they took turns rolling. Each number on the die corresponded to an instruction: pass your gift left or right, steal a gift, open your gift, tell someone to open theirs, or to tell two people to swap. It was fun.

While we were doing the gift exchange, a driver outside swerved off the road and into our church parking lot. He broke off a fire hydrant, hit some cars in the parking lot, and ran into the side of the building. Yikes! Fortunately, no one was hurt. But it did cancel church for the night. The kids had the dinner that was planned for them, and their parents came to get them early.

Whew! What a day! Hopefully my travel to Nebraska will be less adventurous, though there are some storms happening today that might cause some problems. I hope not.

My flight info:
United #1209 Depart LA 9:02am  Arrive Denver 12:34pm
United #4252Depart Denver 3:49pm Arrive Lincoln 6:18pm

Oh. my. stars!!! That story certainly took an unexpected turn! I hope the driver is ok, because that is a huge mistake! Good grief.

I saw the dice game on the interwebs and have been singing its praises. I like that it makes the gift swapping a no-brainer, with lots of activity. Yours has even more directions, which is neat.

Safe travels today! Lots of people are praying you here!

Is your flight correct for going to Denver? I can’t find it on my app.

Wow~that sure set the tone for the day, didn’t it? Thanking God for safety during that mishap and praying it doesn’t interfere too much with upcoming services at your LA church. At least by going to NE for the actual celebrations you should be more certain to have a functioning building for all planned events. Christmas blessings to everyone in both places!
