Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Second Shift

There was a youth lock-in from Friday night into yesterday morning – 8pm to 8am. It’s been a long time since I did a lock in, so I opted for a single shift, rather than staying all night. I came in at 2am and stayed til 8am.

I got there in time to see them finish up a couple activities, then go to the church for a devotion.

After the devotion, it was movie time in the gym.

Most of the kids didn’t make it through the movies. There were only four or five who lasted the whole night. Some of them asked if we could watch the sunrise. The balcony by my classroom was the perfect place for it.

After the sunrise, there was some cleanup time, then breakfast. It was a great lock-in. Our DCE did a GREAT job! I was a little sleepy yesterday, but it wasn’t too bad.

You WENT there at 2 a.m.??? God bless you and God bless your DCE – what an experience for the kids! That is really cool. 🙂 I hope today is somewhat restful, too!

Ag, lock-ins. Glad to read those still actually happen somewhere these days. I have a not-so-fond memory of a broken display glass in the middle school building hallway after shenanigans during one…and not caused by a student either…good times.
