I started yesterday with early church. The teachers were being dedicated for the new school year. But before that, there was a Commissioning. So cool!
Then the dedication.
I was going to go to late service as well, but I got to talking with Andrea and Kaala, and we talked right through the late service, and then all the way to lunch.
We decided to get carry out for lunch, and I got to check another landmark Maui eatery off my list: Cupies!
It’s a burger joint, but what I remember it for is the Caramel Crunch sundaes. They have corn flakes! Ha!
At first, I was disappointed, because all I saw was those little crumbs, but then I looked in the bottom.
After lunch, I went back to my place. I had time for a nap, but also for a little “thank you” gardening on their lanai:
In the evening, I joined Josh and Koryna for dinner at their house. On the way there, I stopped at the Pukalani Superette for some flowers for Koryna, and unexpectedly found a new Maui hat for me:
Dinner was just great. Good food. Great company. Beautiful view.
I fly back to LA today.
What a wonderful, wonderful visit this has been. This church and school is a special place and really helped me remember my best self. I’m so glad I came.
Here’s my flight info, for those playing along at home:

Ahhhhh….. a perfect conclusion to your sabbatical. : I really like how you said it: remembering your best self. Now you can carry that into the coming year!
