Yesterday there was no formal ceremony, but lots of family ritual. We started with church. There was much beautiful music.
Next was a gathering at Grandma’s house. Tara and Tim brought lots of friends, so there were a lot of young people there. It was awesome.
After eating, I was SO sleepy. I went into the guest room and slept. When I woke, some of the people were gone, but a lot of the younger people were still there. Wanting to stay out of their way, I went to the den and sat in a recliner. And fell asleep again.
When I woke, it was just Mom, Brent, Beth, and Rachel talking at a table. And Harold sleeping on the couch. We had a delightful conversation time.
In the evening, more chatting at Lloyd and Lauren’s, then bed.
I’m flying back today. Can you believe it? I’m taking a personal day. I never do that.

It was a lovely weekend, and it also seems strange that it was just a weekend – so much happened! You have a wonderful family. 🙂 I am so glad that you got the recognition from Concordia! (…and also glad that you got some rest.)

A few observations:
1. You are still behind on your sleep from last school year – take those naps when you can get ’em. No apologies necessary to anyone for that.
2. I am proud of you for taking that personal day. We were both probably raised in the era of “only call in if you’re dead” and now the “joy” of making sub plans for a scheduled absence, but in your case – good move, sir! Hope your flight home was uneventful.
