Last night was handbell rehearsal night at my church. I play the biggest bells on the table. They don’t play very often, but when they do, it takes a lot of muscle. Still, I enjoy playing. It’s fun to have a little musical involvement.
We play in the chancel.
It does mean getting home later at night though. Last night I was tired. I treated myself to my first egg nog of the season. Yum!
That viewpoint is lovely! Your church is really quite breathtaking. How cool that you are behind the altar! (Sorry, I just really love this kind of thing.)
I am glad you enjoy eggnog. That is all.
Thurman is an eggnog fan as well -only once/year and in small amounts. Me? No, thanks, so more for you gents.
Speaking of English hand bells, I was blown away by the multiple (8?) octave set that the traveling choir from Concordia Irvine brought with them for a recent concert in Baltimore. It took two concentric tables to set them all up! The largest bells were on the center table, and whoever had to play them was literally bouncing from one bell to the next and used both hands to ring them. I totally get how someone could earn a scholarship to CUI for hand bells. (Truth! They have that!!)
