Thursday morning I was coughing a lot as I got ready for school. Coughing in the morning is not unusual for me. I call it my “old man cough”. But then I continued coughing during the day, and into the evening. I went to bed earlier that night.
Yesterday I woke up and felt awful. Feverish and tired. And the cough was constant and uncontrollable. I texted my principal to ask for coverage, and drove to school so I could prepare some sub plans. On the way to school, I got some medicine.

I was struggling with the decision to ask for a sub, because I’m usually a go-to-work-sick guy. But when I got back home, I slept for four hours straight. I think I had made the right decision.
The evening was miserable, I couldn’t stop coughing, and there was no comfortable position. I finally got to sleep after midnight.
I seem to feel a little better this morning. I’m so glad it’s the weekend, and I can just rest.
Wise decision (to stay home on a school day when you’re that I’ll) – I recall how painful it is to do the sub plans alright, but these days nobody wants to be in a room with anyone else coughing or sniffling anyway. Take care of yourself – I’ll be praying for healing…
Ack!!! I missed this! I am so sorry that you are sick, and also glad that you can just sleep and get over this.
