I had somehow come to the mistaken idea that my church didn’t have Sunday morning Bible study. This past week, I saw in the church newsletter that there was indeed Bible study on Sunday mornings – three of them. Yesterday I went to one.

The one I attended is a small group, which is exciting, because it will give me an opportunity to get to know people.
We studied the readings for the day. The leader was good. I really enjoyed it. I was especially delighted that he pointed out something I hadn’t heard before:
In Luke’s account of the transfiguration, Peter is excited because Moses and Elijah were there with Jesus, and wants them to stay, but then the Father speaks from the cloud, and Luke says this:
…when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
Luke 9:36
Jesus alone. Jesus is all that’s needed, and it’s demonstrated clearly to Peter, who would have shared these events with Luke, who wrote them down for us. Cool!
Yay for small group Bible study! I’m glad that you found that. 🙂
That is an insightful verse – Just Jesus. Good to know every single day.
That is a cool observation from your Bible Study – thanks for sharing it with us.
[This portion of scripture often brings to mind a saint from our congregation who often asked exactly how those three main characters even knew one another – “they didn’t wear ‘Hello! My name is’ tags or anything”. Always made me smile…]
