Plant Puzzle

Saturday morning, when I went out the front door, my porch was messed up. There was dirt all over it, my hose was out, and one of the plants was moved.

As I came farther out, I saw that my rose bush bed was dug out. It was crazy!

There were smudges on my mailbox and on the frame of the house. They looked like hand prints, so I thought it was a person.

Why would a person dig through my plants? Were they crazy? Were they drunk? It creeped me out. I texted my neighbors on either side of the house to give them a heads up.

After he got a look at the digging, one of my neighbors said he recognized the dig patterns. He said it was racoons. Whew! I mean, I don’t like that racoons dug my plants, but I’m glad it wasn’t some weird person.

Another ‘whew’ from over here. My first thought was that it was a critter, but then I remembered that you live in a heavily populated area. Whew.

    Dang raccoons….

So sorry for the destruction to your plants…but relieved to hear it was probably done by the area wildlife. Wonder what it was hunting for in that soil? Did the neighbor suggest anything to reduce the chance of that happening again?

    They don’t like moth balls!
