In the morning yesterday, we headed to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. I’ve seen it from the outside, but I don’t think I’ve ever been inside:

This time, I went inside. It was beautiful.

There are alcoves down both sides that have altars and statues. Here’s St. John:

And here’s St. Lorenzo Ruiz, the first Filipino saint:

You could walk behind the altar as well. There was all kinds of beautiful art and statuary:

This stained glass window reminded me of the ones in my church in Knoxville. So much blue…

Right outside the front door of St. Patrick’s is this statue:

It’s Rockefeller Center! Of course we had to go see the ice skating rink:

After that, we walked some more, and crossed Bleeker Street. That’s where Doctor Strange lives! I looked it up on the internet, and found out the house in the movies doesn’t really exist, so we didn’t look for it.

It was time for a lunch recommendation from one of Denis’ friends – a fried quesadilla. The restaurant was packed, and only had bars where you stood to eat, but we got a spot by the window.

They were so delicious! Yum! …and very messy.

After a break back at the hotel, we headed to Brooklyn to meet up with another one of Denis’ friends, Christian. It was a longer ride on the subway. I fell asleep. We got there in time for Christian to be off of work, and we met him for dinner at a Thai place. I got green curry. Look at my cone of rice!

We shared a dessert. Here’s the before and after:

It was fun to see Christian again. I think the last time I saw him was maybe ten years ago. Sheesh! Time flies!

We fly back to LA today.

Can’t say you two didn’t cram enough activities into this vacation – good for you! Safe journey back, and safe return for that class trip we heard about while you were in B’more. Blessings on the rest of your school year, too.
I agree with Carol – so much fun, and it’s already time to go back home! I am going to guess that you are going to do a bit more sightseeing before getting on the plane?
That cathedral is gorgeous – I’m so glad you got to go inside and show it to us. 🙂 (I’m also intrigued by the rice cone!)
Praying you safely home today.
