When I got home, I walked in my garden. It’s waking up and things are beginning to bud and even flower. I’ve moved some things so that they are visible out the sliding glass window.

The arch will have some vines on it. I have so rarely grown vines. I’m excited about it.

But right now, I’m even more excited about my amaryllises. They’re blooming! Woo hoo!

In Southern California, amaryllises aren’t bulbs that you buy at Christmas time that bloom and then you throw them away. They’re perennials! Cool! I got these two years ago, and they’re multiplying. One of my neighbors has potted amaryllis plants that completely fill the pot! I’m looking forward to mine doing that too!
God surely it you in an environment perfect for a gardener! Out East here folks were already tilling soil and cleaning up fall leaves for planting when it got down to 32 degrees again earlier this week. Daggum it. Guess that “don’t plant until Mother’s Day” thing has some merit after all…
You realize that first “it” was supposed to be “put”, right? (Daggum auto correct…)
I have an amaryllis blooming now also. I was late bringing it up out of the dark basement this year. The stem is about 2 feet tall! I’m sure it needs stronger light. I love the color of your coral one. We rarely see more than red, white or pink ones here.
When I lived in SC, people would plant them in their yards. I though it was so cool to see them blooming in the spring and summer.
