Yesterday started with church. Since we were already in Long Beach, we decided to just keep going east and visit Concordia Irvine. I haven’t been on campus there since 1988.
On the way, we looked for a seafood restaurant to eat at. It ended up being a comedy of errors, but we finally went to a type of restaurant that seems to be becoming more popular here – they steam various shellfish and put them in a plastic bag with spices. We got shrimp. They were good. So was the clam chowder.

Concordia’s campus didn’t spark any strong memories for me, but to be fair, that was 37 years ago. It sure was a pretty campus though.

They have quite a view.

Since we were already so far from home, we decided to keep going and visit Laguna Beach.

…but not before stopping for dessert:

My mom visited Laguna Beach regularly when she was a kid, because some relatives lived there. She was curious to see if it would look familiar.

It didn’t, but she did remember a hotel she and my dad stayed at one time.
We drove back home on Pacific Coast Highway for a while. There was a garden center along the way. Woo hoo!

When we got home, it was 5pm. Whew! We were tired! We relaxed on the couch, then went to bed.
Were you at Irvine for a choir trip or a college visit? *gasp* – If you would have gone to Irvine, we never would have met! Please tell me it was a choir tour.
I can’t believe you two did all that traveling on a Sunday before any naps! What a fun day of exploring – I’m glad you got to see so much. 🙂
I was there during my senior year of high school on a prospective student visit. There were a handful of us who went. I think they paid for our plane tickets even. I thought the campus was beautiful, and considered going there, but it was just too far away from family. What a weird world it would have been if we had never met… everything would have been different.
