Meeting Neighbors

One of my neighbors had a yard sale yesterday, and she invited everyone else on the cul-de-sac to have one too. I don’t have enough stuff for a yard sale, and I don’t really like doing them, so I didn’t participate, but two other neighbors did.

I went to look at their things so I could meet them. It was great! I already know the neighbors on either side of my house, but now I know the next ones down on each side. Plus, I met the people who most recently moved in. How fun!

The woman who initially had the idea for yard sales is named Susan, and is two houses west of me:

Susan chatted with me for quite a while. She’s Lutheran, and attends the WELS church I visited back in February. She’s lived in her house for 54 years. Her back yard garden is SPECTACULAR! It’s full of really mature potted plants and other plantings. I wanted to just stand there and look at things for a while, but she was giving me the quick tour.

Susan said we neighbors should get together some time. I agree!

How fortuitous! It feels like you and Susan have just started quite the ecumenical relationship now. Good for both of you! Hope she did well with her sale…

I missed this yesterday since the website had trouble loading.

What a good idea to have a neighborhood yard sale! You didn’t want to get rid of any of your…… old plant pots….? You really don’t have stuff to sell, do you? I am so glad that you met some great neighbors!
