A month and a half ago, I saw a new toothpaste and got it. It has a terrible name – Salivea – but it tastes wonderful. I love it.
I recently ordered a couple of new boxes, and I noticed the text on the side:

This was invented 35 years ago?!? Why have I never seen it? I went to the internet to do some research. It’s Biotene! Or rather, it’s Biotene before they changed the formula and wrecked it. (I posted about that HERE.)
Apparently, another company bought Biotene from the original people, and then changed the formula. The original people were bound by a non-compete clause, but it has now expired, so they are making original Biotene again, but gave it the really awful name of Salivea.
I’m so happy to have this toothpaste available to me again! I love it! Thank you, makers of Salivea!
On a related note, isn’t it crazy that I write about toothpaste so often that I have a whole category devoted to it? These posts have been with me since the beginning of Bradaptation. My first one was September 20, 2006 – only a month after my first regular posting.
Congratulations! With a 2-decade story like yours, they should do a write-up about it and send you a lifetime supply!
Also, isn’t there a flower with a similar name?
That doesn’t seem odd to me at all, Brad. If I had my own memory archive, I’d probably have an entire category devoted to cross-stitch…or pets…or anything else that has my heart. You obviously care deeply about your teeth, so…makes sense to me! Now, once you start posting about dental work, orthodontia, tooth straightening, surgery………..oh……..wait……..
Maybe that IS a bit unusual after all.
