Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Board Bracing

While I was at church, and a school open house, I was paying someone to hang the TRX exercise straps in my garage.

I couldn’t do it myself, because the ceiling joists are not made of wood – they are made of aluminum. The ceiling wasn’t strong enough to hold the weight.

The handyman built wood down from the underside of the roof until it was on top of the ceiling. Then he could mount the bracket.

It looks like a crazy collection of boards, but he said it’s solid, and would hold more than 300 pounds, which will be way more than I will ever need.

I’m so glad I can confidently hang from these straps. They’ll give me a lot more options when I’m exercising.

Wow, that is quite the reinforcement. Now you can confidently hang around all you want. I’m glad you are continuing your exercising routines. It is so important. Have fun! Also have a great school year. ?

Heh – “Hang around”. That’s comedy gold!

She’s right – good for you for keeping up with the exercise! You are an inspiration, Brad! I am in awe of how you’ve dedicated that space to your health. Super cool.

Your commitment to exercise and mine…..polar opposite. But I do keep trying.

I’m just curious…..what kind of exercise will you do on the straps?

Peggy, you can do a lot of regular stuff, like pushups and tricep exercises and such. Here’s the picture I sent the handyman to show him that it was important for the anchor to be strong:
