Halloween Handouts

I handed out Halloween candy last night. There were lots of cute little trick-or-treaters. There were a few older ones mixed in. And there was one big group of high schoolers. Bruno came to the door for the high schoolers, and was a big hit.

I got my usual Skittles and Nerds. I get hard-textured candies so that parents can rest assured that there are no razor blades in it. Also, I like Skittles and Nerds.

This year, I was extra generous when handing out candy, so by 7:45, I was almost out. I turned off the lights so no one would come to the door any more.

Yay!! I’m glad you had trick-or-treaters. I see that it was warm enough for bare feet? 😉

Our Facebook gossip page was all abuzz with anger about how there were several Trunk-or-Treats going on and kids don’t actually trick-or-treat much anymore. (Personally, I don’t really care.) I handed out candy and/or hot chocolate packets, so I think I had between 40-50?

I have had less and less every year. I invite my class (I let the parents know), and I used to get almost all of my kids. Now I get 4 or 5 of them. I had maybe a dozen total kids including ones I did not know. I blame it on all the trunk-or-treats or church fun nights that happen for several days before Halloween and on Halloween. By the time Halloween gets here, they have a bathtub full of candy. Also, they have to walk up 4 steps and ring a doorbell to get candy from me. Much more difficult than showing up in a church parking lot and having people throw candy at them. And coming to my house is harder for the parents.
