Scrubbed Seasoning

I don’t ever wash my coffee cup or my coffee maker carafe at school. Over the years, they have built up a lovely patina. I call it “seasoning”, like in a cast iron pan. The residue of past brewings adds depth of flavor.

My coworker Kayleigh saw it and was grossed out. She told me she was going to sneak in some time and wash them. Heh.

Over the long weekend, she did it. Ha!

They are so clean and sparkly now! The class of the coffee carafe is particularly dazzling. So pretty! I was not able to make any coffee yesterday, so I can’t speak to the absence of the “seasoning”. I do not have a particularly discriminating palate when it comes to coffee, though, so I’m sure it will be great.

Ha! When Lloyd worked at Oetting’s, there was a guy who had a years-unwashed coffee cup. I was similarly freaked out . Now, I use the same coffee cup every day (at work) and while it gets rinsed daily, it’s only washed once a month or so. Your coworker is a good egg!

(Also, I love that orange/red/yellow flower thing on the wall.)
