My commute to work involves two stretches of easterly travel. The first one is just north of my house. Then I take a little jaunt farther north, and continue to the east to get to school. Both stretches are local roads, and are punctuated by traffic lights.
Yesterday morning, on the more northerly stretch, I hit almost every red light. It was crazy. At first I as annoyed, and then I was amazed. I could hardly believe it was happening. It ended up delaying my arrival time by three minutes, but it was ok, because I had left home earlier than usual.

Then last night on my way home, I was on the other stretch of road (the one to the south), and couldn’t believe what was happening – I was encountering all GREEN lights! I did not hit even a single red light. It was blowing my mind.
And then I looked at the phone map when I was arriving home, and was even more amazed – my arrival time had been shortened by three minutes. I got my three minutes back!
I did not take a picture of any of the green lights, for obvious reasons.
You’ve got yourself a real-life Dr. Seuss situation there.
Red lights east
Green lights west
Three minutes late to work
– what a mess.
Three minutes early
to get back home.
I got ’em all back –
and I got this poem.
This is an amazing post on several levels! So fun. And loved the new Seuss rebirth!
