Yesterday my middle school went on a field trip to visit the USS Iowa – a World War II battleship that is berthed in LA Harbor. It was really cool.
The ship was cool, but they also had some hands-on activities to talk about projectile travel and buoyancy. I really enjoyed our visit. I think the kids did too.
These are the bunks. They are so close. I wondered if I would be able to sleep in them, or if I would feel claustrophobia.

Oh! And I saw some writing that made me chuckle.

Here are the big guns. They fired 16-inch rounds. They had round on display, and it was HUGE.

I think I’ll have to go back some time to get a more thorough look at the ship’s insides. It was fascinating!
The answer is: claustrophobia. Unless you were super-tired. I don’t know…. it’s kind of cozy.
How many times did you say ” ‘sup, vent?” out loud? Or in your head?
What a terrible name for a ship.
Looks really cool though!
Haha! Anna, you’re reminding me of a stand-up comedian who came to Concordia when I was in school there, and he had a whole bit about Nebraska vs. Iowa, and how awful Iowa was.
