We started off the day yesterday by going to church. The sermon was awesome. It was a great way to start the day.

Next, we headed to Quantico, and the marines museum.

It looked familiar to me. I had actually been there back in 2014. Thank goodness for this memory archive!
Mount Vernon was our next stop. I love George Washington’s house. It’s so beautiful! There were even dogwood trees blooming!

It just so happened that this weekend was a revolutionary war reenactment weekend.

There were vendors there, and one of them was selling glass items made the old-timey way. I looked for a vase, because I need something for my cut flowers. I chose something kind of plain, but loved what he said next: “That is made from the oldest known glass mold in the United States. Cool! It was usually used to make bottles, but he made a vase.

After a pizza dinner, we went for an evening walk among the memorials. The first one was Vietnam. I have my students write a thank you note to a specific soldier, and we find their names and leave them at the wall.

I took an art shot at the Lincoln memorial…

…and a selfie at the World War II memorial.

We got to our hotel late! Whew! I was tired!
You’re making some amazing memories for and with your students, Brad…and for yourself! God bless you all on this journey.
Wow! That’s enough activity for a whole trip, and it was just one day! I’m glad you got a souvenir that is meaningful, and thank you for the photos! I can’t wait to see what you do today. 🙂
Lark and Ruth will be in DC starting tomorrow afternoon through Thursday. Be sure to say hi when you see them . . .
