Paper Projects

We have electives at my school, and I’m doing an origami class. The most recent lesson we did was paper cranes. I’ve always thought they were impossibly complicated. It turns out that, though they are more complicated than some of the other things we’ve done, they’re do-able, even by the beginners in my class (and even by me.)

Behold! The first paper crane I have ever made!

Actually, it’s possible I’ve folded a paper crane before and just can’t remember it.

Aren’t you supposed to fold a thousand of those for someone? It’s either good luck or a mighty curse.

I just reread Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to see if it was appropriate for my grand daughters. ( I think not yet) . It is sad, but so could lead to much discussion.
I also remember seeing paper cranes at the concentration camp we visited in Germany.
