Okay, I think I was getting a little cocky. When I got home, I rushed to the kitchen to do more cabinet door assembly. For the base cabinets, I’ve purchased drawers and lazy susan thingys and one slidey-outey door. I assembled and installed the slidey-outey door last night. After it was all put together and installed, something bad happened:
D’oh! It won’t close! I even followed their instructions. Now I’m going to have to partially disassemble it and move the door down one quarter inch. grrrrr
Also last night, I went out especially to get a new circular saw blade. The last countertop cut was bad because the laminate chipped. I thought a new saw blade would fix it. We’ve already had some bad luck with the countertops. It should have taken three 8ft. sections. Last night was the sixth. It’s still WAY cheaper than anything else, but it’s kind of frustrating. Anyway, last night was more bad luck. The new saw blade was the wrong brand or something. It ripped through the laminate and left a jaggedy edge and a chunk missing.
I think this means a seventh section from the store.
I”m just looking forward to the mega-counter you’ll build with all the scraps – perhaps in the basement or out in the garden?
Little sawing tip!
Put another small section of scrap laminate on top of it – like a laminate sandwich – then do your cut. the smooth decorative layer won’t be able to catch the blade because it will be protected by the scrap bit.
🙂
Wow! Erin, you’re clever! You’ve apparently done this before :)!
