Freezing Rain

Well, we’ve got another snow day today. The snow that gave us an early dismissal yesterday turned into freezing rain over night. Right now (7:30am), it’s sleet. Baltimore is a little skittish when it comes to snow, but I don’t think even experienced snow drivers would go out in this if they had a choice.

Even though school is cancelled, I will be going in. The accreditation team is visiting our school this week. I was scheduled for a meeting with them. My current info says it’s delayed two hours, so I won’t be going in until 11. Hopefully by then the streets will be nicer. I don’t like driving in snow or ice. I don’t have skills.

Ice, ice, baby.

    It was nice knowing you.

Do you have a will drawn up so I can have all your cool stuff?

    • Beth says:

I’m pretty sure Tara gets everything. After all, there has to be some reward for caring for all the old people in her life once she’s grown!
You can have Ned. Is that a good consolation prize?

  2. Annette says:

When St. John’s accreditation team came a knockin’ we were having snow days too. I think it’s an automatic award…….EVERYONE loves cancellations!
    God bless!

  3. Kim says:

Hello everybody in bradaptationland! Oh happy ice day. Annette, if you can’t swing a snow day, maybe a water main break?

  4. Peggy says:

Sorry you have to go in today … the streets in my develpement haven’t even been touched yet, no plows in sight … Please drive carefully … if you want to make it out alive … drive slowly: low rate of speed, unhurried, little by little, bit by bit, at a snail’s pace … and no tail gating!
I’ll be making Lauren’s version of choc. chip cookies today … and if they fail for some reason, I have brownies as a back up.
Cool video yesterday … any chance you could add cool songs to your posts each day.

I just listened to the BLS weather line (I assumed I didn’t have to go in … but I checked anyway … and it looks like no one had to go in … interviews by telephone … so are all yous off the hook?)
Just saw Nicolas Cage on Live and his new movie Ghost Rider actually looks good … anyone want to go?

    • Kim says:

I saw him too! He is one of my favorite actors. I would love to go see Ghost Rider. Let’s make a date!

    • Erin says:

As a comic –book geek, I’m really excited (yet fear) for the Ghost Rider movie!
Ghost Rider was a favourite of my childhood – who wouldn’t love a story about a flaming dead guy with motorcycles?!?
Yet I worry… Hollywood so often screws it up…

X-Men – good actors/action, totally unrecognizable from the comic
Spiderman – was good I must admit.
      The Batman movies – Tolerable
      Fantastic 4 – Crap
      Daredevil – Crap
The Hulk – I still lament the fact that I will never get those 2 hours back….
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen – A superb read, but even Sean Connery couldn’t save that one.
      The Punisher – Crap
      Catwoman – Major Crap!!!

…But Nicolas Cage looks really cool… I’ll dare to hope!!!
Maybe you can post a movie review?

      • Kim says:

I think a movie review can be arranged. And I agree, it is difficult to make a comic book character come to life on screen.

And Monday is a possibility Peggy.

        • Peggy says:

Or Sunday … this Friday & Saturday Matt is at the State’s Wrestling Tournament … his last wrestling event EVER :( or :)

        • Michele says:

Count Brad and I in for the Ghost Writer movie trip. I’ve never been to a movie with you all. Do you have any strange movie habits or rituals I should know about?

          • Kim says:

We are heading down the ocean, hon. We will be back on Sunday afternoon. I can hit a movie anytime after 2PM on Monday.

Peggy, do you have a location?

  6. Michele says:

I just finished my two phone interviews – one as the Math Action Chair and one as a parent. I hope I wasn’t too long-winded. :)
I’m still in my PJs, the fire is going, and I have a nice eye roast in the crock pot. I love these snow days!
I’m about to open my second cup of Dunkin Donuts :) and upload some grades to Edline. Randy is still out shoveling the rest of the driveway. He did just enough this morning to make the run for our yummy coffee. Priorities you know!
I may go in a little later to copy some things for tomorrow. The woman who interviewed me said the school lot wasn’t plowed, but I could get into the circle.
I miss you all! Love you Peggy, Kim and Brad!!!

    • Peggy says:

      Thanks for the love! Ditto!
I love to cook but don’t usually have alot of time … so far today I’ve already made pancakes, eggs & sausage … browines … I have an italian bake in the oven … a pork roast in the crock pot … and it’s only noon … I’m out of control!!!!
Soon we’ll (me & kids) be watching “The Departed” so that means hot chocolate & popcorn & ????

  7. Michele says:

Brad and Kim – did you two get your Pirates and Superman Valentines ready for your advisory kids? I have mine all ready.

  8. Beth says:

So, have you Baltimorans resorted to blogging for contact on snow days? We here in Nebraska must be behind the times…we still use telephones :D ! Heh.
