First Dirt

I left school quickly yesterday so I could get into the garden. The weather was beautiful, and it’s staying light out until after 6:00. Mostly I was just raking up brush piles and pulling out plant skeletons from last summer. But it was sooo nice. I love getting my hands in the dirt. It felt so good. I think it may be the source of all my powers.

I like to leave my teacher clothes on when I garden. It makes me feel like some English gentleman gardener to be out there in my shirt and tie. Maybe I’ll start dressing that way when I go out on the weekends too. And I could speak with a British accent when people walk by.

‘ello govnah!

Dirt, ring, and dress shirt sleeve... what a gentleman!

Yikes! Working in your school clothes? What you need is a nice pair of Wellington boots! Can’t get more British than that! Ok, maybe a tweed jacket with elbow patches… and a pipe…

BTW, I’m curious to hear more on the saga of the pink laundry… any success?

I used “dye remover” made by the dye people, RIT. My school shirts are white again, but my T-shirts have a slight pink cast to them. It doesn’t really matter though, because all I ever use them for is wearing underneath other shirts.

Hmm… a new goal now: find Wellies, tweed, and a pipe!

I so want to see you in the whole getup! I think perhaps a cane, as well! Well done, old bean.

You bloody bloke … have you gone plum mad? Gardening in your dress attire !! At least your yard will look smashing, maybe even before you leave for holiday next week.

(What are the odds that I went to “Crown & Thistle” today for a spot of tea & lunch with the gals. I’ve never been to a tea room before. Sterling silver utensils, fresh flowers on the tables, teapots with various teas, crumpets. I got a Banger Roll (a sausage wrapped in a flaky pastry)for lunch. I discovered I like some teas. I guess we need to work on being more refined though. We stayed too long & were asked to leave … “another party coming in” they said. Thank goodness their was a pub nearby.)

Pip pip cheerio and all that draught!

Something else that strikes me is that your hands (like mine) have really large palms for the size and length of your fingers…I’ll have to take a picture of my hand and show you…it’s weird.

    • Peggy says:

Thanks Beth … now I realize I too have LPS (large palm syndrome). My palm is longer then my fingers. How big should my palm be? If my fingers were longer then my palm, wouldn’t that be like having monkey hands?
What is the correct ratio of palm to finger anyway?

while you were digging in your school clothes, did you happen to find any body parts? You already found a Butterfinger, but I think it too early for Black Eyed Susans. What about Lady Fingers?
