My front yard is mostly evergreen formal plantings, but here and there I slip in some color. My color of choice is blue or pink. Along the front sidewalk is a row of lavender… blue. Next to the porch is a clump of lilies… pink. At the end of the bed are some globe thistles… blue. Next to the bank parking lot is some Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris)… pink. At least, it’s supposed to be pink. The blooms on this grass come out so late I haven’t seen them very often. A lot of years, it gets cold too soon and the grass stops growing.
This year we’ve had some pretty warm weather in October, so the wispy pink plumes are out and showing. It’s nice to have something exciting happening in the garden during a time of year when all the other plants seem to be wearing out.
I think the neighborhood appreciates it too, because before I took the picture I only had to pull two pieces of trash out from under the grass.
Oh, I thought this was your head, and you were experimenting with a new style.
Lookin’ pretty autumnal, Brad!
good one, Lauren
Hey, this plant sure could use some “product.”
What is the deal with littering?!? People fill up Rock Creek Park with their crap, and I have to say I just don’t get it…
