YouthQuake 2008

I’m back home from YouthQuake. It was really fun. Never having done it before, I wasn’t really sure what it would be like. We took 20 kids and 7 adults (so there was one adult per hotel room). The programming was good. The bands played some fun music that we danced and sang to. The speaker was AWESOME! His name is Dan Scharnhorst. He was hilarious, plus he really did a good job of talking about Jesus.

It was the kids’ first time, too, so they were a little unsure of the whole thing. But by the end I think they were in to it. I think next year will be even better.

Our group always got the front seats during the “Celebration” times (a secret word for worship, but don’t tell the kids). Since we were in front, the kids could gather in front of the stage and us adults could stay in seats. It was a good arrangement.

Here is a group called Captive Free singing some song. I didn’t know any of the music that was played at this thing, since I’m sort of an old school traditionalist. But that didn’t stop me from being named the best dancer in the room at the third “trek” period of the Cross Purpose band!

Na, na, na, na, na! HEY!

I roomed with three boys. I slept on the floor in front of the door. After living with them for two days, I sure feel a lot better about my own housekeeping skills. The room was a wreck! I had to take a picture of the bathroom floor. It was always littered with clothes. I also had to include this picture, because it was yet another opportunity to post a picture of my foot.

Where's the maid when you need one?

I bet the bathroom floor in your boys’ room was still less disgusting than the bathroom trashcan in my girls’ room! We’ll just leave it at that.
Youth Quake – good times. πŸ™‚ We listened to one of the Mudhouse CDs on the car ride home. Now I can’t get the songs out of my head!

Sounds like a delightfully messy time! I wish someone had taken pictures of your dancing! (Michele? Any photos?)

I wish I had thought of using the video feature on my camera, because a still photo truly wouldn’t capture the beauty of Brad’s dance moves!
I did get a good shot of Brad in the shirt Denis brought back from his trip. Maybe Brad can get that onto a later post.

Didn’t Captive Free come play at Seward? I’ve heard of them, but there’s no way they would be on the playlist of any radio station that I listen to…

P.S. It sounds like a great time! πŸ™‚

Michelle, did you have to sleep on the floor too? Is that because you can’t be in bed with the kids?

If it were me, I’d make the kid sleep on the floor, and I would hog the bed all to myself…

    (or maybe not…)

I slept on the floor right up against the door so they wouldn’t be able to sneak out. πŸ™‚

I slept with my daughter. Besides, girls don’t freak out as much about sleeping with each other. Well, you know what I mean!

      • Deanne

I do. And women are rarely accused of sexual abuse! Much safer for Brad to sleep on the floor in our highly letigious world!

Just when you think you are safe, those feet appear again! AAAAAHHHHHHHH!

      hehehehe ….
