God Bless Carry-Out

Since I played around on Saturday and didn’t get anything done, yesterday was more of a work day. After going to church twice (once with my handbell group, and once at my own church), I had a quick nap. Being twice as holy is tiring!

Next I went to my pastor’s house to pick up some photography equipment because he was donating it to school. He followed me to school to help me unload it. Then I stayed to work some. Grades are due tomorrow morning. That means I’m staying late tonight. But it won’t be as late as it might have been because I got a lot of stuff organized yesterday.

By the time I was leaving for home, it was dark. I was hungry, but not feeling any less lazy about food than I usually do. In the contest between lazy and hungry, lazy always wins. It’s a good diet plan. I simply don’t keep any junk food in my house, and I’m always too lazy to go get some.

But since I was in the car anyway :), I stopped for some carry-out on my way home. I went to Godfrey’s. It’s one of my regular places. I usually get the barbeque pulled pork, but I was in the mood for something different last night, so I got a cheeseburger.

If it weren’t for my carry-out restaurants, I’d never eat meat at all.

I has cheezburger.

Did you get the kids’ meal? I’m assuming your beads and guinea pig/cat are the prizes.

And that fresh piece of lettuce and tomato slice have you covered for Lent, right?

    • Brad

HAHA! That hadn’t even occurred to me!

Actually, I had a grapefruit yesterday. I put a TON of sugar on it, but it still was a raw fruit, right?

      • Deanne

Absolutely, even loaded up with heavily processed white sugar, it still counts as a raw fruit. In Colombia, they throw all their fruits into the blender with sugar and/or milk and drink their fruits. The blendering breaks up some of the fiber, but they still call that eating fruit. I learned that anything can go into the blender, so we’ve now had even fresh cranberry juice. (Although, to be precise, we didn’t put that in the blender.)
P.S. Don’t forget to strain your juice before you drink it.

Godfrey’s? As in Gilford Godfrey? Where’s this place? The burger looks scrumptous, except for the cheese & tomato part, and the fly in the box lid. Speaking of which, did you hear that Huckabee used to cook squirrel in a popcorn popper in college? Weird … in a cool way.

Speaking of squirrels, did you know Brad used to be a bird dog in High School?

      • Lauren

A bird dog? A bird dog? What does that mean?

      • Brad

I don’t remember fetching squirrels, but I do remember ripping the fur off rabbit carcasses and putting them in the basement freezer.

(Ha! That’s the third day in a row I’ve used the word carcass!)
