More Silver

Happy Leap Day!

I had lunch duty yesterday. Another student was having problems with the food machines: they wouldn’t take her dime. I saw by it’s color that it was a silver dime. Another silver coin?!? I had to have it, but I didn’t have a dime, so I traded her for a quarter. I think I came out ahead on this trade. According to THIS site, as of yesterday, the silver in this dime is worth $1.42.

This particular dime is from 1964. Using the Internets, I went looking for things that happened on February 29, 1964. Yes, there was a February 29 in 1964. Isn’t that amazing?

Here’s the fun link for today: It’s Charles Schulz’s annotations to The Complete Peanuts 1963-1964. You have to scroll down about halfway to read the entry for February 29, 1964. It’s about VanGough and how his work would never be found in a doghouse. Too bad the comic itself isn’t included. Check out the rest of the site, too. It’s run by a Star Trek fan! Yay, Star Trek!

It's Denver mint, but the mark by FDR's neck does not appear to be a D

Just a torch with olive and oak branches on this side.

Hey, I’ve got some silver fillings in my teeth – you wanna buy them?

This is becoming quite a bad habit.

What will Brad go to hell for?

Maybe … regularly manipulating & taking advantage of unsuspecting, trusting youths.

Maybe he repented and just can’t help doing it again… God is good that way, forgives us even when we don’t deserve it.

I did a picture parent art presentation of Van Gough when Matt was in the 4th grade. I dressed up like him & pretended to be him, complete with his death. Then I did a quick change artist trick to become his brother to finish the lesson. Usually the kids are so bad when a parent does these things, but these kids sat in complete silence. I’m pretty sure that thought Matt’s mom had really flipped beyond repair this time. But their paintings were GREAT!

    Quarter for scale please!

Does your camera focus that close, or did you cut down a larger picture? Do you walk to school or carry your lunch?

Do you teach grammar or ride on trains?

It’s a big picture. I would love to have a camera that takes extremely close pictures, but it seems like those are all really expensive.

They’re not that expensive. You’d just need a camera that allows interchangeable lenses and then also get a macro lens. The Nikon D40 is a decent camera, as is the D80, but that’s higher end. Once you get going with a DSLR, you won’t go back to your point and shot. The response time is so much better, and the write time is way faster also.

I thought we couldn’t swear on this site.

I think you could buy it, use it, then return it??? Right Lauren???
