Something to Show for It

It was a surprise to be off of school yesterday. I was almost ready to leave by the time I found out. Since I was already awake, I used my most productive time of the day (the morning) to take care of some paperwork and pay some bills. I was finished with all of that by 7am. It felt good.

Then I spent a big chunk of the day watching an Outer Limits marathon and playing Peggle. It was relaxing.

In the afternoon, I got two more things done: Firstly, I went to school to get my computer. In theory, I will be working on it today, shuffling kids into their second semester classes in my electronic gradebook, and writing chapel.

The second thing I got done was to pot the roses that are growing roots in the windowsill. The bumps I had previously wondered about are indeed roots. I was a little worried about fungus attacking the roses, so I wanted to sterilize the potting soil. A little online investigation suggested an easy remedy: pour boiling water through the soil before planting the cuttings. Easy!

Die, fungus!

Mmmmm…. looks like the start to a really expensive coffee drink.

Have no fear, Lauren. I can make you a really cheap one that looks just like that.

You’re getting pretty good at left-handed picture taking, aren’t you?

    My day was successful too:
    1. I caught up on paperwork and budget stuff at home.
    2. I wrote an awesome reference sheet for my Pre-Algebra classes on solving equations.
    3. I colored my hair. (Hopefully getting it cut today if some “blue hairs” cancel because of the nasty weather!)
    4. To top off the day I won a nice game of SETTLERS!!

BTW Brad – your picture text came through at 2:31 this morning – it woke me! Now I wonder what time you got mine. I sent it around 8:30 PM.

Hey Lauren…maybe we’re not horticulturally challenged after all…maybe our soil has just been fungus laden…yea, that’s it.

Happy Snow Day Number 2! But my satellite isn’t working right…it’s covered in ice…ARRRGGGGG!!!

(hehe…I said soil AND #2 in the same comment)

Should I get that? Or is that another one of those “I get it…” things?
