Caffeine Weekend

Saturday was an open house day at school. I went in early because I had to straighten my room and hang some colorful artwork on the wall. Since I was a little chilled and since I was craving it, I made some coffee. I ended up drinking all of it before the open house started. Once things started, I felt like I was crashing from the caffeine, so I made some hot tea. It helped.

Later that day, I felt like I had overdosed on caffeine. My eyeballs were hurting and I had a headache. I had sort of a nap, but it didn’t feel like it helped. I was groggy for the rest of the day.

Then yesterday, I got up early so I could go to school before church, as is my custom. I had grading to finish. My head still felt weird, so I did not make any coffee. It was hard to stay awake, and I think I got less done than I would have if I drank some coffee, but I didn’t want that awful headache back. I was horribly sleepy in church and I ended up taking a nap in the afternoon, but I think my head might be returning to normal.

So now what do I do? Never drink caffeine again? That’s unlikely. I’m exceptionally sleepy again this morning, and the whispering voice of coffee calls to me.

Once I hand back papers today, my desk will be almost entirely clean.

    ….. drink it…. drink it…..

Bear in mind that this advice comes from someone who drinks three cups every morning and a Pepsi every afternoon – caffeine is life – I would recommend that you drink half a cup of coffee this morning and see where it takes you. (It could be magical!)

Perhaps you’ll go the way of your siblings and give up caffeine all together…

    Perhaps…

You don’t drink any caffeine? Did I know that?

      How strange.

      • Beth says:

Only at restaurants if they don’t have CF Pepsi (which no one does) and I’m cravig Pepsi.

And occasionally on Saturday mornings if I get a Large Sweet Tea from McD’s.

Otherwise. No. Neither does Brent except on rare occasions.

Wow Brad–your desk looks great! Congratulations on getting all that work done!

But did you get a bigger coffee pot? If I remember correctly, your coffee pot only makes like 2 cups. I don’t think that would cause a 2 day headache. But the onset of a certain flu would!! Muahhhhh!

My post was originally going to be about how freakishly clean my desk was, but when I was still sleepy this morning I had to write about my strange headaches.

I do still have the small coffee pot. I don’t understand my jitters. But I don’t think it’s the flu. Here is an instance where it’s good to be old. Old people don’t seem to be getting the flu as much so far this year, just kids. Awesome!

Beer. That’ll take care of your caffeine problem. Brent, Beth…did you give that up?
