Holy Haze, Batman!

At church yesterday morning, I looked up to make sure I wasn’t sitting under one of the big hanging light fixtures, and I noticed a haze in the ceiling spotlights. During communion, I actually got up to ask an usher if he saw the cloudiness too, or if it was just my contacts. He said that he saw it. Since we didn’t smell smoke, we could only guess what it was. He suggested dust. I thought it might be fog. Can there be fog inside a building?

It makes me think of the Old Testament temple, where the glory of the Lord would fill the temple like a cloud.

I took pictures of it after church was over. Lots of people asked me what I was doing. I showed them all the haze, but no one else made a comment on it besides that usher. Maybe they didn’t think it was weird. I sure did.

The hanging lights kept blinding the camera. I tried to shade it with my hand.

That is freaky! I vote for fog – haven’t you had some humid weather lately, like lots and lots of rain? Whatever it is, it’s cool.

Maybe the Eastern Orthodox were using your church on Saturday? They are an incense loving lot, right?

Is it kosher to capture the glory of the Lord on film?

I sure hope so….I wouldn’t want the rest of your days to be spent as a schlemiel!
