Yesterday was the full day of YouthQuake. The day started with a “Celebration”, which is what we call “worship” at YouthQuake, but don’t tell the kids that. The music at the Celebrations is LOUD. Because of my temporary deafness after shooting guns this past summer, I protect my ears carefully now. At each Celebration, I jammed tissue in my ears so they wouldn’t be damaged.
Saturday at YouthQuake is always the day for “Treks” or workshops. There were some good ones this year. I enjoyed sitting in on the Science experiment one:
After bragging about how long it’s been since I’ve been sick, I have a cold. I decided to try zinc lozenges to see if they lessened the cold like people claim. I haven’t noticed a difference.
We had dinner at a nearby sports bar. The Ravens were playing a playoff game. It was really really loud. I almost got my tissue wads out so I could protect my ears.
The evening ended with the activity time, including a dance. This group of kids was wonderful! They enjoyed themselves and really didn’t give us cause to worry. It was a great night.
You are smart, smart, smart to protect your ears. Next year I think you should wear some of those noise-canceling headphones with a t-shirt that says, “You kids are crazy with your loud music and baggy pants….”
It looks really fun, and I’m glad the kids get to participate in something so positive. Does this go through Sunday or are you all headed home now? (I can’t remember from past years.)
Feel better
Woo hoo!! Everything sounds great! Is that plastic on the floor at the science trek? I can’t wait to hear what happened there.
Feel better….I predict lots of rest in your future today & tomorrow.
Good eye! I didn’t notice the plastic.
