Artificial Spring

I kind of like artificial flowers. When it’s too cold for real flowers out in the garden, artificial flowers remind me of better days.

I have some pitcher-thingies in my kitchen that I fully intended to have four sets of artificial flowers for – one set for each season. I started by getting some spring-like flowers that looked like flowering quince branches. Then summer came, and I forgot to get the summer set. Once fall came around, I got something that looks like a chrysanthemum and some berries that look like crab apples or maybe service berries. Winter is mostly gone, and I never replaced the fall arrangement.

I’m ready for spring, so I decided to switch back to the quince branches. Maybe if it looks like spring in my kitchen the end of winter will seem warmer.

Spring set in the pitcher. Fall set on the counter.

    That looks very nice indeed!!

For your summer set, these would be my favorites in your pitcher: Kahlua, vanilla ice-cream, a splash of milk, some ice cubes, maybe a splash of vodka

      Ha! You funny, Peggy.

Those really are quite lovely, Brad, and that’s a good idea. Changing them out keeps them from getting dusty, which is apparently the downfall of fake flowers. (Or real plants, if you live in my house.)

Where do you keep your spare flowers?
