Weird Mints

I got some green tea mints from Trader Joe’s. I’m a big fan of unusual mint flavors. These did not disappoint. I do taste the green tea. They’re also a little minty. The ingredient list says it’s peppermint. In spite of the mint, I like them. But they are not sugar-free. In fact, sugar is the first ingredient. But I suppose at least it’s better than a candy bar.

Reading the label was the funnest part. In case I was wondering, there are as many polyphenols in three of the mints as there are in one cup of green tea. And apparently, these are made in a facility that also processes shellfish. Wait… what?

Ha! They look like leaves!

Yes, less sugar than a candy bar, but not if you eat them all in one sitting. (I’ve actually done that with Tic Tacs.) How could you resist eating all those beautiful, tasty leaves, especially with all those polyphenols*??

    How big is the tin?

*Note: I do not know what that word means.

My thumb is actually resting on the tin in the picture, to give you some idea of the scale. I would say it’s maybe two inches square? Were you considering it for a tiny lasagna pan?

*I also do not know what polyphenols are. Multiple phenols? What’s so great about having more than one phenol?

    They’re beautiful!

And what nicely manicured thumb nails you have.

    • Brad

Why, thank you. I just cut my nails yesterday morning. They were freaky-long. And just by coincidence, the index finger and thumb of my left hand were the only fingers not scratched or damaged in some way by Friday’s gardening. Perfect for picture-taking purposes.

I never EvEr eVeR EVER ever EVER want to cut my nails. On Saturday, after my shower, mom wanted to cut my nails, then I could go to the Pester’s house.(I wanted to play with Tara and Tim that day) After my shower,I just combed my hair and asked dad to drive me to Tara and Tim’s. I hope mom never reads this!

          Anna,
          You rock!
On Saturdays when I was growing up we watched Jackie Gleason, got our hair washed, nails clipped and ears cleaned. We didn’t know the Pesters. You probably don’t know Jackie Gleason. Even so….Pesters are worth a good trim!

Ha! I chuckled at your last line!

I would totally buy those mints on their cuteness factor alone, not to mention I could sure use a healthy boost of polyphenols in my diet:

(btw Brad–you have a beautiful lunula!)

Thank you. I don’t believe I’ve ever had someone compliment my “little moon”. And thank you for the fun Google-search ride I just took. It was fun.

And I thought I had heard about polyphenols before. How could I forget that it was Alton who told me?

I think Polly Phenol is Peter Phenol’s half-sister…or multiple sister…maybe they were twins? Anywho…you know I’m a tin junkie, so I might buy the tiny tin, throw the mints out, and re-use the tin for something related to needlework (e.g., to hold those tiny gold safety pins). But if they’re as tastey as they are cute, I might actually consume some if purchased or, say, gifted to me some day (ahem). The 29th of this month is my 5/6 birthday, you know!
